On the morning of Saturday August 27th Truck 43, with a crew of 8, was dispatched to transfer to station 39 (Garden Spot Fire Rescue) while their department operated on a first due building fire in the 100 block of Toddy Drive in East Earl Township. Just after arrival at station 39, command 39 requested with Lancaster County 911 for a second alarm assignment bringing Truck 43 into the scene.
Once on scene command advised Truck 43 to set up on the alpha side of the building and to split crews into two teams, an inside team and outside team. The outside team laddered the roof and assisted crews from Truck 39, Truck 42, Truck 15, and Truck 31 with ventilation. The inside team was sent into the building to search for extension of the fire throughout the building. Crews found fire and were able to extinguish with a handline and assisted with ventilation and overhaul. Crews operated in various additional tasks for the duration of the 4 hours they were on scene before being released by command 39.
