For the month of May the EMS Division handled a total 166 calls. We had 129 calls for a 1st due unit, 39 calls for a second due unit, 10 calls for our third due unit, and 2 call for our fourth due unit. The EMS Supervisor responded to 5 calls and the Duty Chief responded to 2. The department wide EMS training for the month was on self care with our Chaplin. Several members also individually completed continuing education for their certifications.
For the month of April the Fire Division handled 16 calls for service. We had 11 calls for the Engine Company, 6 for the Truck Company, 2 for the Squad, and 2 for the Special Unit. The Duty Chief responded to 2 calls and the EMS Supervisor to 1. The first department wide fire training for the month was at the Lancaster County Public Safety Training Center. Crews rotated through vehicle fire and propane tank fires, as well as search evolutions in the smoke maze. The second department wide training for the month was on vehicle rescue operations with Kinzer Fire Company at Nulls Towing. Several evenings and weekends throughout the month we had several members also train on driver and pump qualifications to get clear as driver/operators on the Engine. The Tower also was present at Pequea Valley High School for their annual Spring Fling, where the crew gave bucket rides and assisted with a candy toss.
