Saturday April 23rd at 1630 Engine 431 and Ambulance 431 were dispatched to assist Station 45 (Kinzer Fire Company) on a reported house fire. Engine 431 hit the street just after dispatch with an inhouse crew. Squad 431 also made the response. Deputy 45 arrived on scene with a light smoke condition from the structure with reports of a basement fire. Engine 431 was the first arriving Engine and split crews with one stretching a line to the basement and the other checking conditions on first floor. Basement crews found a fire in the basement that extended into the chimney chase. Crews on first floor opened up the walls also finding fires in the walls. A handline was stretched to the first floor and both crews worked on extinguishment. Additional fire was also found in the attic of the structure by crews from 45 which was handled with the line from the first floor which was quickly contained. Crews from squad 431 were assigned to assist Truck 42 with laddering the building and ventilation for the crews working in the attic. Deputy 431 assisted with command. Crews worked on the scene for about an hour and a half with overhaul before the box was placed in service. Ambulance 431 stood by on scene with no medical services needed.
