This past weekend proved to be a busy weekend for the volunteers of Gordonville Fire and EMS.
The EMS division handled 13 calls for service while the Fire division handled 5. Truck 43 also assisted Garden Spot Fire Rescue on Sunday with a flag arch detail for the viewing services for Officer Wendell Metzler of the New Holland Borough Police Department who passed away as a result of his long battle with cancer last week.
Three of the calls this weekend for the fire and EMS came on Saturday. First, during the afternoon hours the Engine, Special Unit, and an Ambulance assisted Refton Fire Department with a barn fire in the 500 Block of Pennsy Road. The second and third came just as the units had returned to quarters for the Special Unit and an Ambulance to assist Blue Rock Fire Rescue with a barn fire in the 3400 Block of Blue Rock Road while the Engine relocated to cover Willow Street Fire Company’s area while they operated on the fire with with Blue Rock Fire Rescue. The engine handled a motor vehicle accident at Gypsy Hill Road and Eshelman Mill Road while covering the area.
